At the beginning of this book, I was very skeptical. Now I have already told you how much I love to read but I have not yet told you how hard it is, to find a book that I feel comfortable reading and comfortable enjoying. Usually within the first few pages, I am able to decide whether the story line within the book is actually going to capture my interest or not. If the book does not interest me, then usually I haven’t read past the fifth page.

I cannot say enough, of how much this book captured my interest. I have not read many psychological thrillers that entertain me and also intrigue me to the point where I need to keep reading and reading until I find out what happens at the end.

I fully give Annie Taylor the credit of being able to write something so absorbing and so devastating at the same time but whilst also making sure that the story line is realistic as possible. Throughout the book, I am constantly hanging onto each characters involvement into the murder and disappearance of sisters, Nora and Noelle.

Although I love how Annie Taylor focuses on telling the story of Nora and Noelle through the character Maddie’s eye, I do however feel a bit disappointed. Knowing that there were so many other characters in this story that were affected by the murders, makes me want to be more involved in their characters.  I only wish that Annie Taylor would write a second book that is able to tell the story of the few other family and friend characters of Nora and Noelle, so we are able to understand how they were feeling and thinking during the times that these murders struck.

Now on the note a very serious issue of murders and disappearances. I feel that this book did such a good job allowing the audience to get lost in helping work out who murdered Noelle and Nora. I feel that bringing a murder scene or two into the story line allowed the book to feel more real and more life-like. Not only this, but I feel that it also allowed Annie Taylor to portray different tragedies that do happen outside of books and written pages. Some families who are struck with the tragedy of murder do have the chance to find out who the killer is and for Nora and Noelle’s instances, this comes true and the killer is found. But for some, especially in real circumstances, some cases aren’t so lucky. I feel that this then really pushes you to explore your emotions and really think about how you feel. Maddie’s feelings of despair, anger, frustration and sadness really hit home when you find out what happen to both Nora and Noelle.

I definitely give this book a rating of 5 stars out of 5 as it is so beautifully written.

If your looking for a read that leaves you hanging on by a thread until the end, then this book is for you!

Love x
