Well… I’m not going to lie and say that this was a great book because I disappointingly and regrettably feel that it’s not. I usually always find myself giving books three stars or more, rarely do I find myself having to write a review on a book that I quite clearly did not enjoy.
I mean… Everyone has their own reviews and opinions on each and every book that they read but for me, it lost me right at the beginning of the story. It lost me to the point where I only read half of the book. That’s right! I couldn’t even finish it.
In the beginning of the book, Sarah Flint introduces you to a scene that not many people would enjoy reading about, involving pimps, prostitution, grueling abuse and violence. And being a thriller, that’s okay, but I feel that when she begins to tell the story about the mother giving birth to a baby and this baby being abandoned in an alleyway left to die, she then ends the chapter and switches to a different character. I guess you could say that she has done this to make you want to keep reading and reading to find out what happens to the baby and the mother. But after awhile of reading each chapter that switches in between 3 to 5 different characters and many different parts of the story, I feel that it just makes the story drag on.
And you would think that getting to halfway into the book, it would reveal some more information that you could piece together to get an understanding of what is happening in this story and where it is leading, but I still felt as if it was going nowhere. I planned on trying to push myself to read the last half of the book but I just couldn’t.
I won’t say too much more as I am continuously stuck for words to write on this book so maybe you guys might be able to have better luck then I did with this book!
Love x
